Reviewer Comments:
Kade Sun of Perdition #1 is a prelude to the story of Kade, a sort of half human half angel character who hunts demons. Set with the classic "fallen angel" back drop, Kade SOP features some of the most stunning artwork I've seen in a long time. The painterly style is rendered in such detail that the visuals themselves will draw you out of the story, and the book becomes more of a still framed story board where the words become irrelevant to how much you enjoy the title.

This leads to Kade's weakest point which is the story, or lack there of. It's not that the writing itself is bad, a lot of the text is written in a quality poetic type of prose, that gives the feel of an ancient story arc. However, the story is so vague half the time you have no clue as to what's really going on. The scenes jump around with no sense of time, or character development and seem to just be there to give an excuse for the visuals to continue. The story itself would probably read better without the text at all, as the pacing of the panel artwork itself serves to tell the story equally as well, if not better. The text actually seems to take away from the story, as it really only adds more questions as to what's going on while rarely answering any. In the end, your left with characters you really know nothing about, beyond what you can find out from reading the books preview.

In the end, the lack of cohesive narrative does pull this title back, but the amazing visuals really make up for it and make this title worthy of purchase. If you have an appreciation for quality artwork, Kade Son of Perdition is a fine showcase of what can be done in the comic book medium (even if you need to ignore the storyline to see it.

I haven't had a chance to read that one, but judging by Steven's review it's the same character and author.
