"He cannot feel pain, but he always hurts"

It was the coldest winter the land had felt in years when Kade was born.
The day after his birth he was abandoned in the woods, and was left to die.
By chance a young monk found this baby and rushed him back to the temple. He was nourisehd back to health but there were some features that were unique with this young infant. His skin was opalescent white, which was in direct contrast to his hair - coal black. Also, this small baby didn't respond to touch.

From a blade seperating flesh to a warm embrace, Kade is the enigmatic warrior who is unable to feel. Kade must face his destiny to embark on adventure to remove the Dark Veil that has blinded the realm.
Seeking the death of Apollyon, the gothic demon hunter must uncover the secrets of the Black Sun while struggling with his physical limitations and his concept of being a hero.

I was impressed with Kade. Never having read anything about Kade or the supporting characters I felt a like I had missed out on some of the history, but overall I thought most of it was explained well enough in the TPB so that I could follow along.

Kade and most of the other characters in the title are pretty badass to say the least. O'Reilly gives Kade a special ability, or limitation depending on how you look at it, which I thought was a unique spin on the usual definition of a hero. Kade can't feel pain... which can be good or bad depending on the situation. I won't go into the explanation as to why he has this limitation, but I will say that it was handled well and I thought it was pretty interesting. I also really liked the art in this, as it mixed just the right amount of an ominous tone with the heroic qualities that the story provided.

Two thumbs up for O'Reilly on this title. I can't wait to read more Kade.
