Default Fallen Justice # 2

Title: Fallen Justice # 2
Publisher Name: Red Handed Studios
Writer: Carey Kelly & Steven Forbes
Art: Harold Edge & Ross Hughes
3.50, 22 pages, Color

Safety Content Label: T+ TEENS AND UP - Appropriate for most readers 13 and up, parents are advised that they might want to read before or with younger children.

Publishers Blurb:
After last issue’s shocking ending, things only get worse for Justice Theta as he is nearly killed stopping a random bank robbery. Caught up in a rapidly spiraling anti-hero media campaign focused primarily on his own recent actions, he tries to put things right as best he can while learning as much as possible about his own personal problems. Meanwhile, two relatively weak enemies plot his untimely demise.

Reviewer Comments:
After the bad news last issue, heads will roll....er, make that, heads will squish like over-ripe melons!

Yeah, things get worse for Justice Theta.

In issue #1, he found out he was dying for m his doctor, who is also an ex-girlfriend.

Yeah, double whammy.

This issue, Justice Theta makes a desperate attempt to do some good in his final days. You know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men, right?

J.T. breaks up a bank robbery by psycho genus brothers, COMEDY and TRAGEDY. Some combination of the high tech weaponry and his failing powers leaves him vulnerable to their blast. In fear and pain, J.T. lashes out, tragically killing Tragedy.

Comedy doesn't find this very funny, and denounces Justice Theta in a television interview, laden with insane babbling, and great little throw-away lines, like "how many more innocent criminals have to die?".

And of course, in the end, Comedy is already planning revenge, by disabling the power dampers (and actually enhancing the powers) of fellow inmate, MOB, a kind of evil Jamie Maddrox.

The writing is really good, and the story moves along at a nice pace. Justice Theta swings back and forth between self-pity, and concern for who will protect the people without him.
Edge & Hughes deliver wonderfully solid art & colors. The style here is great, neither too realistic nor too cartoony.

In fact, the only flaw, and this is minor, is the end. It seems to end too abruptly, as if there should have been just one more panel, or a splash page. Instead it seems to drop off in mid conversation.

Now, as I said, I think Cary did a great job here. I only mention this ending issue, because it is EXACTLY the kind of thing that Forby should be catching, and we all know how I love to give Forby a hard time!

All in all, this is still a great issue of a great series.

Thanks for the review, Seb.

I didn't edit this. I co-wrote it. To be perfectly honest, this is the issue I scripted over Cary's plotting. That's how we tag-teamed it. I plotted the odds, which he scripted, and he plotted the evens, which I scripted. I think it turned out pretty well.

I'm happy that you liked it. I hope everyone else does, too, flaws and all.

Seb, thanks for the review sir! glad you enjoyed it. and actually you skipped over the two rather glaring errors made by my idiot letterer. he sent in the wrong page thereby leaving out the musical notes that took him well over three HOURS to add in, and he didn't merge a tail with a balloon at one point, though unless you're really looking you won't catch that one. he keeps this mess up and i'm gonna have to fire him!
